Boston Bruins defensive prospect Jakub Zboril is on pace for a career year point wise in his third season in the QMJHL with the Saint John Sea Dogs. So far in this 2016-17 campaign, the 6′-2″ 185-pound Czech republic native has 7-19-26 numbers in 31 games. His best season to date is his rookie year with Saint John’s where he contributed 13-20-33 totals in 2014-15 and presumably caught the eye of Bruins scouts who pushed for the selection of the young blue-liner.

Zboril was the first of three straight selections at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft in Sunrise, Florida and is in his third year with the Sea Dogs. In 125 career games in the QMJHL, he’s amassed 26-53-79 numbers and will be eligible to play in the AHL with the Providence Bruins next season or if lucky crack the NHL Bruins roster. The two-way defenseman is a good skater with exceptional hands and vision in all three zones is second to none. He possesses a hard and accurate shot and can be an effective player on special teams.

Last night the 32-12-3-1 Sea Dogs traveled to Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia to play the 23-23-2-3 Mooseheads and walked away with a 7-4 victory. With last night’s win, the Sea Dogs earned their 68th point and trail league-leading Shawinigan Cataractes (69 Points) by one point.

With a goal and an assist in last night’s win, Zboril increased his point streak to four games accruing one goal and four assists during that time frame. Sitting at 26 points on the season with 20 games remaining in the 2016-17 regular season, it’s not out of the realm that the 13th overall pick 2015 will surpass his 33 points he earned in his rookie year.

Zboril looks to continue his point streak and help his Sea Dog team to its seventh straight victory with a contest this afternoon when they travel to play the 29-18-2-2 Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 3 pm EST.

About Mark Allred Jr

Long-time Boston Bruins fan and former beer league goaltender for over 30-years on the ice, Inline, and Dek-Hockey throughout New England. Retired and needed a hobby so writing about the B's talent in the lower levels of developmental hockey is my favorite topic and main focus. It's important to know about tomorrow's stars today in my opinion.
