Boston Bruins goaltending prospect Dan Vladar has certainly taken full advantage of his recall to the AHL’s Providence Bruins while NHL Bruins backup netminder Anton Khudobin recovered from an arm/wrist injury that had him on the shelf for over three weeks.  The Providence Bruins are in St, John’s, Newfoundland for back-to-back games at Mile One Centre home of the Montreal Canadiens minor-pro affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps. Baby B’s goaltender Malcolm Subban is expected to get the start tonight as the puck drops at 7:35 NST and 6pm EST.

In his time with the AHL Bruins, the B’s 2015 third round selection has played very well in his role during his recall. In five games played the 6′-5″ 185-pound Praha, Czech Republic native has an impressive 3-0-2 record with a 2.55 goals-against-average and .923 save percentage. This is the 19-year-olds first year of semi-professional hockey and before his recall, to Providence, he’s spent some time with the Bruins “AA” ECHL affiliate the Atlanta Gladiators. In two games with the Gladiators, he has a 1-0-1 record with a 2.88 goals-against-average and .909 save percentage.

With the Baby B’s out of the country for the weekend, changes to the Bruins goaltending depth could happen as soon as next week with netminder Zane McIntyre who was sent to the ECHL Gladiators team yesterday, will most likely join the Providence team sooner than later. The return goaltending tandem of McIntyre and Malcolm Subban is going to force Vladar back to the ECHL Glads as it’s unnecessary to carry three netminders when the young prospect can get valuable playing time with the Atlanta team.
