Boston Bruins forward prospect, Zachary Senyshyn didn’t exactly have the greatest 2016 summer offseason as health issues hindered his participation in bruins organizational events such as their annual development camp and rookie camp. In July of this year the 2015 first round selection of the B’s was diagnosed with mononucleosis and in September before rookie camp started in September, he was hospitalized with an emergency appendectomy.  The 19-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native did participate in the NHL Bruins training camp but was released to his Canadian Junior team shortly after.

After his return to the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds team the 6′-3″ 194-pound right winger had a slow start to his third year of junior development posting 5-2-7 totals in his first 13 games as he struggled to get back to the player he was last season where he contributed 45-20-65 numbers in 66 games. Although his slow start may be due to his unfortunate summer health issues, his game lately has shown signs of his past play that could turn into a solid year regardless.

After contributing a goal and an assist in last night’s come from behind 5-3 Greyhounds victory on the road against the Mississauga Steelheads, Senyshyn continued an impressive streak which has him now scoring points in six straight games. In that timeframe, the Bruins first-round pick has seemingly turned his 2016-17 OHL season around with 4-5-9 totals and looks to continue his streak tomorrow afternoon when the Greyhounds travel to Tribute Communities Centre with a battle against the Oshawa Generals at 2:05 pm.

In 19 games this season for the Greyhounds, Senyshyn has 9-7-16 numbers, which adds to his impressive three-year OHL career with 84-47-128 numbers in 155 games. After his commitment to his respected OHL team is over, he’ll most likely join the AHL’s Providence Bruins and will be eligible for a full-time position with the Baby B’s in the upcoming 2017-18 season if he hasn’t already made the NHL Bruins roster.
